Description
This portrait of a friend of mine was fun to do, because I took it from a screen capture and changed it. That can be challenging, because even though I am a forensic artist, morphing too much can make the portrait unrecognizable.
I met my friend Tim Abell at a cafe in Ventura, CA while I was waiting for someone. An east coast native, he made me feel comfortable on my first trip to Los Angeles. I came to the cafe again, we would talk, and he showed me his reel–the actors’ business card–that would hopefully get his career going. Fast forward a couple of decades, when we had lost touch over snail-mail, and enter Facebook, where you can find anyone you want to find…and even those you don’t. I reconnected with Tim and met those close to him on a subsequent trip to L.A. in the new millenium. Progress was a weak word for what Tim had done with his career. The man is a talented and prolific actor. He is also a hero, being a former Army Ranger. He has done stints on Criminal Minds, CSI: Miami, and tons of other television and film projects. He is an avid supporter of the military, too.
I am most inspired to do portraits of inspiring people. So, this 9 x 12 graphite drawing on acid-free paper is now for sale.
All art is unframed unless otherwise noted.
