Description
Like an extra large pizza, sometimes a painting just isn’t finished until you spend a lot of time with it.
Originally, the pizza in this painting was just a moon, but it always seemed unfinished to me. The newspaper behind it was 1 Corinthians 13, the love verse, which is still there, but I had always thought of the Dean Martin song ‘That’s Amore’ when painting this. I thought putting a pizza behind them would be weird or corny. But, like the many times I ignore those thoughts and plunge forward, I’m glad I did.
How can you go wrong with pizza, stars, a loved one and amoré?
For those of you who have never heard the song nor the lyrics, here’s a link to both: https://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/deanmartin/thatsamore.html
This painting is 8 x 8 x .75″ on cradled birch panel covered with newspaper, in acrylic. All pieces are unframed unless otherwise noted.
