Sedona Blush

I visited Phoenix, and then Sedona. After driving 2 hours from Phoenix, I didn’t know what to expect. I figured this ‘Sedona’ place would be just like Phoenix. And then I saw the jewel in the crown of the desert. If heaven had a desert, this would be it.

The little town of Sedona is bursting with art, rocks and crystals, colors, and is warmed by a sun that is tempered by the arid climate. I actually stood in the desert at high noon in a jacket, shivering a little.

A shop owner told me I could go up into the huge rock formations visible from the charming street where we were, and hunt turquoise and other stones!

There’s something about the southwest that just makes me relax, take a breath, and thank our Creator for yet another example of His creative artistry. In keeping with my ‘faces’ theme, this rockface has just as much character as any person I know. At 5 in the morning, it is a dark silhouette, like a lot of us, and as the sun crests the mountains, its blush is plainly seen as it rises to experience the day.
