Description
The Gooty Sapphire Ornamental Tarantula is 8 x 10 x .75 Acrylic and ephemera with embellishments on a birch panel with nested pine strips.
This arboreal ‘old world’ spider is considerably more active than its new world cousins, and is brilliant in color. She is considered rare and extremely endangered, inhabiting a 92-square mile preserve in the middle of India. Her bite is very painful, but there have been no documented human deaths from it.
This painting contains Indian and Asian language ephemera, as well as a tiny map indicating where this spider is found, and other facts about them.
