Description
‘Beautiful Skull’ is a piece I did on 16 x 16 nested board with collage and acrylic. I was inspired by a Mexican restaurant I visited in West Chester, where the owner had decorated it in bright scarlets, blues and hot pinks, with Mexican motifs for ‘day of the dead’.
Rather than celebrate death, this piece glorifies how we were created, with every bone in its place, and every plane and curve of the facial bones, our own. You see, every skull is like a fingerprint. When forensic processes are applied to a skull, and hours of measuring and drawing are done, an individual face materializes. We were all created as individuals, with our own gifts, talents, loves and ideas. We are all beautiful in our own way. Ephesians 2:10.
