A friend of mine pointed out the fact that mechanical pencils are much more simple to use in making drawings. They never need to be sharpened, which makes them more efficient to use. Of course, when doing fields of tone, wooden leaded pencils are great. When an artist wants to be expressive, those pencils are great too. But when I am making super-detailed features and intricate patterns in a drawing, mechanical pencils are the go-to. So, today I saw a sale on them: three packs of four for $2. Pardon me for getting excited, but when I calculated the hours all of these leads would provide for me, I got excited.
So, there’s not really a point to this post other than the fact that this is a great way to get detail without having to sharpen crazy-style. Enjoy!
