I’m visiting home for the Chester County Studio Tour May 15-16. I love doing this show, but this year, due to other obligations, I’ll be just a patron of the arts. It is fun driving around Chester County to the 60 studios and even more talented artists, some friends, some I haven’t met yet, all offering original art, prints, jewelry, sculpture woodworking and more!

It’s impossible (for me) to get to all of the studios in one day, though I believe someone has. It’s always inspiring for me to get out and see what everyone else is doing. It makes me want to go home and do art! Where do you go to get inspired?

After, we’re usually found at Four Dogs Tavern in Marshalton, PA. It’s an amazing, cozy rustic and historical tavern with incredible food. I’ve been going there for decades for their famous crab cakes. If the Four Dogs ever closes, I may have to open it in my house. I love that place. In the 1800s, it was a stable for the Marshalton Inn; a favorite restaurant for the travelers on what was that main road between Philadelphia and Pittsburg. You can see a cemetery from the Revolutionary War down the hill. I think that’s the right war. Anyway, the people in there are older than me. More on the history of the Four Dogs and the art that inspired the name is here

So, if you’re in the area, go to the site: www.countystudiotour.com (menu: Chester County…there are two other studio tours), plan your itinerary and come out! And, if you see a ‘County Collector’ piece—a piece of art 6×6 sold for $75 by any of the artists—that you like, show up at that studio by 10am to buy it. Those go quickly and the low price is attractive!

In coming weeks, I will be posting certain pieces of art for sale under $100. It’s time for some new pieces, and that means I want to share some pieces from this year with you! You can always check back on my site here or subscribe to learn more! My Facebook page will also have news.

Until then, no matter what you do in two weekends, be inspired and don’t be afraid of your wings!
